The Twenty-fifth Sunday after TRINITY

The Righteous Branch
Jeremiah 23:1-8
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my
pasture! saith the LORD.
2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that
feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not
visited them behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the
LORD.
3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither
I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be
fruitful and increase.
4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them and they
shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the
LORD.
5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a
righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute
judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely and
this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no
more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the
land of Egypt;
8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the
house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had
driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.
The Branch of the LORD.
Says The LORD “I Will Raise Up for David a
Righteous Branch”
YHWH will restore the nation from exile n will
provide true "shepherds" who will care for His flock. In this passage
the LORD promises the coming of the ideal king, "a righteous Branch"
in the line of David. The tree has been cut off but yet if you leave it there
you will find a branch or a shoot that is growing out of it, because though it
is cut off, it is not dead. During the Babylonian exile the royal line of David
was cut off, but not destroyed. Yet GOD cause a branch to sprout from that
stump. CHRIST is that righteous branch and He will reign over all of the earth
one day. Jeremiah says, they will call Him "YHWH our
Righteousness" because He is Righteous. He will lead people into Righteousness.It
is only through the ideal king Messiah David whose just and victorious rule the
hopes of Judah will ever be realized. No other dynasty will have everlasting
rule. The Royal Psalms give emphasis to this same idealism.
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch
shall grow out of his roots:
Isaiah 11:1
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Matthew 2:23
See Ps 2, Ps 4, Ps 72, Ps 89-110
This ruler will spring forth or bud forth as a
Righteous Plant. He is the blossom of the Righteous KINGDOM that will spring
forth from what appears to be an almost dead stump.
Jeremiah said His name would be "YHWH is
our Righteousness". This means, that GOD alone can save n justify His
sinful people, n He will do it through this King. "YHWH is our
righteousness." But this is the Messiah's name. Therefore, the people of GOD
must seek their Righteousness, their justice, their hope from YHWH, n must
seek it through the Messiah-king.
In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and
the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped
of Israel.
Isaiah 4:2
Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit
before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my
servant the BRANCH.
Zechariah 3:8
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying,
Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place,
and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the
glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon
his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Zechariah 6:12-13
This part of the prophecy has already taken
place. The Righteous Branch for David has already come. JESUS CHRIST is that
Righteous Branch.

Jeremiah 23:5-8
Here we see a prophecy of JESUS CHRIST, the
Righteous Branch n the King. The LORD declares the days are coming when He will
raise up a Righteous Branch for David.
A Branch will bear fruit.
The LORD JESUS CHRIST - Our Righteousness
Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor
that are cast out to thy house? when
thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from
thine own flesh?
8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health
shall spring forth speedily and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the
glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.
9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and
he shall say, Here I am. If thou take
away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and
speaking vanity;
10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the
afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as
the noonday
11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in
drought, and make fat thy bones and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and
like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places thou
shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called,
The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
Isaiah 58:7-12
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto
their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the
remembrance of them from the earth.Ps 34:15-16
JESUS’s Righteousness is show by the perfect
life that He lived on this earth, His perfect obedience to every aspect of the
Law n our HEAVENLY FATHER.
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is
no sin.
1 John 3:5
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1 Peter 2:22
Main purpose of the prophets was to constantly
call the people back to GOD—to love GOD and to obey his commandments. To reject
the king is to reject all hope of righteousness before GOD. Is it not still
true what Paul said of Israel 2,000 years ago
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that
believeth.
Romans 10:2–4
The second part of this prophecy is still to
come in the future. When the Lord declares something will happen, it will
happen. These days are still to come. This verse is talking about the second
coming of CHRIST when He will reign for a thousand years on this earth and for
eternity on the new earth.

These n other verses describe the coming New Age
when the Messiah would restore David's dynasty.
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch
shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom
and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and
of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and
he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the
hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with
equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of
his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness
the girdle of his reins.
Isaiah 11:1-5
Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came,
who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not
all Israel, which are of Israel:
Isaiah 9:5-6
In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and
close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build
it as in the days of old:
Amos 9:11
Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their
God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the
latter days.
Hosea 3:5
CHRIST will reign as the perfect King. He will
not make a decision that is wrong. His decisions will be made with perfect
wisdom. His Justice and righteousness will be perfect. Can you imagine having a
ruler who is perfect and every decision that He makes is right and good? A
ruler who is not corrupt. It is very hard to imagine a ruler like that. A ruler
who is without flaw, who does not use deceit to satisfy people. A ruler who has
perfect love. This is who we serve. This is JESUS CHRIST, our King.

6:5-14
When Jesus
then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto
Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6 And this
he said to prove him for he himself knew what he would do.
7 Philip
answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that
every one of them may take a little.
8 One of
his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
9 There is
a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes but what are
they among so many?
10 And
Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So
the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus
took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples,
and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as
much as they would.
12 When
they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that
remain, that nothing be lost.
13
Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the
fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them
that had eaten.
14 Then
those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a
truth that prophet that should come into the world.

We all sinned n deserve GOD’s judgment. But our loving FATHER, GOD sent HIS only begotten SON to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in HIM. JESUS, our LORD who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that HE died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buries n rose from the dead according to the Holy Bible. If you truly believe n trust in your heart, receiving JESUS alone as your SAVIOUR, declaring (by Baptism) JESUS is The LORD n SAVIOUR, you will be SAVED from the judgment n spend ETERNITY with GOD in HEAVEN….
