Holy Saturday Reading
1 Peter
3:18–19 says, “For Christ also hath once
suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also
he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;” Christ’s
flesh died, but His spirit remained alive, after His death on the cross,
descended into Hades [prison] to preach to spirits there. 1
Peter 3:19-20 “By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited
in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight
souls were saved by water.” and Acts 2:31
“He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was
not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.”.
We must believe, that Christ's body lying in the grave, His soul descended into
Hades not to suffer pains, but to save—to “proclaimed to the spirits in
prison,” that is, in Hades 1 Peter 3:19 “By which also he
went and preached unto the spirits in prison;”. Hades is a temporary place for both the lost
and the Old Testament saints; it’s a temporary place where the dead await for Resurrection
[Read Revelation 20:11–15].
Christ
ascending from the grave, Hades’ doors broken and lying in a crosswise [x]
pattern [you can see this in all those beautiful paintings] Ephesians
4:8 “Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.” as the Lord takes Adam and Eve by
the hand—takes all of Old Testament saints and fallen angels by the hand—and
frees them from the captivity of Hades. Jude 1:6 “And
the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he
hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the
great day.” Yes! Even fallen angels got saved!—it couldn’t be a message of
redemption since angels cannot be saved Hebrews
2:16 “For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him
the seed of Abraham.”. It was probably a declaration of
victory over satan and his hosts 1 Peter 3:22 “Who is gone into
heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers
being made subject unto him.”. Pastor Paul says about Christ, “When
He ascended on High, He took many captives”, that means, Jesus gathered all the
redeemed who were there in Hades and took them to their permanent dwelling in
Heaven; Not only was Satan defeated, but so was death itself. Our God is Great!
Ephesians 4:8–10 “Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on
high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he
ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of
the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all
heavens, that he might fill all things.)” and Psalm
68:18 “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast
received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might
dwell among them.” . Then, on the third day He rose again from
death to life, manifestly showing Himself to His Disciples, eating with them,
and speaking of the Kingdom of God. [Read Matthew 28, Luke 14, Ephesians. 4, 1

1 Peter 3
Likewise,
ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the
word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While
they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose
adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of
wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let
it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the
ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great
price.
5 For
after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God,
adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands
6 Even as
Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do
well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour
unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the
grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally,
be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be
pitiful, be courteous
9 Not
rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing but contrariwise blessing;
knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he
that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil,
and his lips that they speak no guile
11 Let him
eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers
but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who
is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14 But and
if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye and be not afraid of their
terror, neither be troubled;
15 But
sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to
every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and
fear
16 Having
a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they
may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it
is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for
evil doing.
18 For

like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away
of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by
the resurrection of Jesus Christ
22 Who is
gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and
powers being made subject unto him.

We all sinned n deserve GOD’s judgment, but our loving FATHER, GOD sent HIS only begotten SON to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in HIM. JESUS, our LORD who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that HE died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buries n rose from the dead according to the Holy Bible. If you truly believe n trust in your heart, receiving JESUS alone as your SAVIOUR, declaring (by Baptism) JESUS is The LORD n SAVIOUR, you will be SAVED from the judgment n spend ETERNITY with GOD in HEAVEN….
