Holy Week – Holy Saturday (Black Saturday) – Bible Study
“For
as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three
days and three nights in the heart of the
earth.” Matthew 12:40
After gave up His Spirit on the cross Jesus Christ The Son of God our Lord went into the underworld; not because He died but to redeem the souls of the Old Testament people (from Adam to the people of 33 A.D.) from “Sheol” (Hades). In 1 Peter 3:18-20 scriptures clearly indicate
that our God is the forgiving and loving God… and scripture also says that He
is the Just God, so that He punished sins, not the sinners. He punished all our
past-present-future sins in the body of Christ Jesus, and He died terrible death for
our Salvation. Holy Bible says that Jesus preached to obedient and disobedient spirit in prison (Sheol, Hades) who died before the Jesus’s sacrifice (1 Peter 3:19-20).. “By which also He went and
preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient…”, That’s why Lord Jesus Christ descended into the
realm of the dead to offered the second chance of Salvation to those in Hades “Sheol”
(not hell). The Old Testament uses the term "Sheol" (the Pit) to
refer to the abode or state of the dead and The New Testament uses the term
"Hades" (Gehenna) for the same place (And this is not hell, hell is not for us but for devil and his fallen angels and God will cast out them into the everlasting fire
(hell). See Matthew 18:8-9). Sheol is
the place where The Old Testament people souls awaited for the Salvation (Jesus),
where all righteous and unrighteous went after they died, where they were
awaited the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. ‘Here,
We are talking about the people who died before Christ gave His life
as our sin offering (His Sacrifice), Please do not be confused
this with PURGATORY; it’s NOT PURGATORY! don't believe on it, there is no such place for Christians souls to get purification or temporary punishment, our LORD JESUS is our SALVATION (Psalm 27) and He already purified us with His PRECIOUS BLOOD and with HIS SACRIFICIAL DEATH ON THE CROSS, 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another, AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS
CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN.” (Read Hebrews 9:13-10:18
). That is why scripture says God has plan for Salvation for ALL people, and "His salvation" is no other but His only begotten Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17)... “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who
will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (Read full 1 Timothy 2:1-7) “for the grace of
God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to ALL men,” Titus 2:11 God’s
salvation for ALL, all means all; even for dead.” So, Jesus preached to the dead - just as God our
Father planned, in order to rescue us from the power of evil and death.
“The
LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in
whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my.” Psalm
18:2-6 God is our Rock the very foundation of
our Salvation and Faith, He has chosen us in Him before we were born, before
the foundation of the Earth(We are His Church, His indwelling place and His
people). Just like that Jesus chose His disciples-they were already chosen in Him, and
even Judas iscariot was also chosen to betray Jesus, for our Salvation through
Jesus' sacrificial death, John 3:16-17
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life...". Condemnation
kills because it destroys the confidence/Faith on God’s Promise of Salvation
and His mercy; as the results, they start thinking they're unworthy for God's
forgiveness and feel unworthy even to be called a child of the Lord. But scriptures
says “There is therefore
now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans
8:1 We are not capable to know what is good for us and what is not
but the Lord our God who can see our past-present and future knows. Have faith
on Him, after all He is the creator of all things. “For by
him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible
and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or
powers: all things were created by him, and for him...” Colossians 1:16-20
We all have free will, to do what we think is right. But sometimes we do wrong things, even after The Holy Spirit warn us to not to do so, just like Peter denied Jesus three times, fearing of the punishment and death. But Peter was already chosen in Jesus; that's why by God's will, he repented and God showed His Grace upon him. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus addressing Peter as “rock”, the same person Peter, who denied Jesus three times, but now, he became the greatest example of God's mercy and grace. Just because he repented. Christ Jesus point out on two important things In Matthew 16:18, the first important thing is REPENTANCE. If you're passing through trials and made mistakes, never think that you're not worthy to ask God's mercy and forgiveness. God has the Father's heart.. He is our Heavenly Father. Nothing is hidden from Him, He knows your heart and He is ready to forgive you, if you have the courage to step in His mercy-grace. Nothing can makes God happier than a Prayer from a repentant heart (Luke 15:3-7 , Luke 15:10). Jesus told all His disciples to preach the Gospel to the entire world and baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, He said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:15-16 and “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matthew 28:19-20. And the second one is, “He broke the gates of Hades”, JESUS PAID FOR OUR SINS ONCE FOR ALL, He took our place; He took our sins upon Himself and made a legal payment according to the law and died on our behalf, from then death and hades has no dominion over us. "And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18.

Peter 3:18–19 says, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins,
the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in
the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached
unto the spirits in prison;” Did
you know that all the tombs were opened when Christ died? " And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God." Matthew 27:52-54, Christ’s flesh died (as the prophecy found in Isaiah 53) and His spirit remained alive (He is God and Man ), after His death on the cross,
descended into Hades (prison) to preach to spirits there. 1 Peter 3:19-20 “By which also he went and
preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when
once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a
preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” and Acts
2:31 “He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul
was not left in hades, neither his flesh did see corruption.”. We must believe, that Christ's body lying
in the grave, His soul descended into Hades not to suffer pains, but to save—to
“proclaimed to the spirits in prison,” that is, in Hades.
The Paintings
depicts Jesus, vested in white and gold to symbolise his divine majesty,
standing on Hades’ broken gates
and lying in a crosswise (x) pattern and He is holding
Adam and Eve and pulling them up out of Hades. Revelation 1:18: “I Am He who lives, and was dead, and
behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of
Death.” And Ephesians
4:8 “Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive,
and gave gifts unto men.” as
He takes all of Old Testament people by the hand—and frees them from the
captivity of Hades. THEN, ON THE THIRD DAY HE ROSE AGAIN FROM
DEATH TO LIFE, manifestly
showing Himself to His Disciples, eating with them, and speaking of the Kingdom
of God and on the 40th day He ascended to the Heaven “But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT
THE RIGHT HAND of the power OF GOD” Luke 22:69 and Acts 2:33 and He sent The Holy Spirit
as the Helper on the day of the PENTECOST, 50th day after His resurrecting ( Acts 2). The Holy Spirit, who seals us until the day of Redemption (RAPTURE) “And grieve not the Holy
Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians
4:30 and once you received “The Seal of The Holy Spirit” and once we got this
seal then devil, all evils and even death has no power over us.. Christ will return at any
moment for the Rapture of the Church (Christians/ Believers), and take all of
us with Him in secret, the world will get confused about our disappearing and
false prophets will give them a good explanation of our sudden disappearing,
like alien attack!! It will be Pre-Tribulation
Rapture because Jesus said in Revelation 3:10 He will took us before the
Tribulation “the hour of temptation” (from the great tribulation)(RAPTURE, Read 1 Corinthians 15:51-56, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 3:10)“I also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation, which shall come upon all the world,..” Revelation 3:10-11 , we must be ready because “But of that day and hour knoweth no
man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” Matthew 24:36, “Behold, I come quickly; and my
reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha
and Omega, the beginning and the.” Revelation 22:12-14, “I also will keep thee from the hour
of temptation, which shall come upon all the world” Revelation 3:10 (Read
Matthew 28, Luke 14, Ephesians. 4, 1 Corinthians. 15, The Acts 1.) HE IS GOD,
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM. Acts 2:31: "...He, foreseeing this, spoke
concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades,
nor did His flesh see corruption. He
is the creator of Heaven and earth “All things were made by
him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3” and “I Am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and
which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8 and He has the key of hell and of death “I am
he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and
have the keys of hell and of death.” Revelation 1:18 So He has the Power over everything. That’s our Lord and He has the
most compassionate Heart towards us, Bible is full of stories about God's mercy toward His people and HOLY SATURDAY is the most beautiful example of His great mercy.
Let’s see it again “By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in
prison;” 1 Peter 3:18-20 Jesus descended into Hades to preach
the "God's Gospel of Grace" to the poor souls. “For
for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according
to men in the flesh, but live
according to God in the spirit.”.
1 Peter 4:6 He
died, He descended into the lower parts of the earth (Hades), and overcame
Satan and the power of death; and then He ascended with people who died before
His death and resurrection.

No one is
ever too lost to be saved by God's amazing grace. It doesn't matter how many
steps you took away from God, remember there's only one step backward to get
right with Him; only single step in the right direction. Sometimes we get so
hard on ourselves that we don't want to see we already has the solution of our
problem! We're living in the constant fear of our society; fear of being
criticised, fear from changes and fear of being hurt, and that's how we have
missed the point; the point of “God's Grace!” Trusting in God's unfailing Grace
and Favour is the exact opposite of living in fear that society doesn't has. Place
your Trust in Him, He created all the things visible and non-visible and He
knows what's going on, Just BELIEVE “But we
speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God
ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this
world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of
glory.9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that
love him” 1 Corinthians 2:7-9 We don't need
to be perfect because we have the Perfect God Almighty as our helper and our
Guide “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I
will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8. God the Father wants us to rely on Him for
everything, from our daily bread to our Eternal Salvation, He is our provider
God …“Our
fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, “He gave them bread from
heaven to eat.” John 6:31-44, “Being
justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” Romans
3: 24 , “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved.” Romans 10:9, Nothing is impossible for God, if we believe in
Him, He will do it for us “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With
men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Luke 1:37 Bible is full of the story about God's mercy toward
peoples disobedience and iniquity. We saw how forgiving was our Heavenly Father towards
those people in Bible time, than why do we think that the same God who full of
compassion and grace suddenly changed? He has the same compassionate Heart and He
loves us; HIS Children and His marvellous creations. But He is the just God, He punish the sins but not
sinners because Jesus already took our punishment on the cross and died for our
sins, but Jesus is the God, One of the member of the Holy Trinity so that He
rose again from death on the third day (That's why we celebrate The
Resurrection Day, Easter) “Jesus
Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8 So, don't be like
modern day Pharisees! Look at the
ordinary people in the Gospels, those Israelites (not pharisees and sadducees, except Nicodemus ) and Gentiles (everyone except
Jews) knew nothing about The Messiah, (The Son of God and our Saviour) but they
followed Jesus Christ and accepted Him as their Saviour by the inspiration of
God and the Holy Spirit. WE read their stories in The Bible, they were real and
they were became God's living miracle... Be the living miracle! Have Faith on
God Almighty.
“Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither
slumber nor sleep.” Psalm 121:2-4 , “The nation is like a mighty lion; When it
is sleeping, no one dares wake it. Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, And
whoever curses Israel will be cursed.” Numbers 24:9 There are many PROPHECIES about “The Great
Tribulation” (Read Micah 2:12) Isaiah 63:1-6 describe the area of “Petra” in
Jordan as the place where Jews flee when the antiChrist begins persecution, it
will be a horrible time for those who will left behind (This is why I urge you
to accept Jesus Christ as your God and Saviour, be Baptized in Him) “God Just
to For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to ALL men” Titus
2:11-12 whether you are Jews, Muslims, Hindus,
Buddhist, atheists you can start your New Life from today by accepting Jesus
Christ as your God, Saviour and by being Baptized in His name you will have the
Power of Holy Spirit, who seals you until the day of Redemption (RAPTURE) “And
grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption.” Ephesians 4:30 and once you received
“The Seal of The Holy Spirit” then antiChrist, all evils and death has no power
over you “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the
promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law,
but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us
all,” Romans 4:16, (Read also Ephesians 2:8-11, Galatians
3:28, Romans 10:12, Acts 2:21-22, 1 Timothy 2:4-6 ) Alright, back to the point! The Jews in the 7 years
period of great tribulation -- (Read Micah 2:12)
Isaiah 63:1-6 describe the area of “Petra” in Jordan as the place where Jews
flee when the antiChrist begins persecution, It is where they remain safely
protected by God during the period of the Great Tribulation. That is why Israel
will stand firm even after going through 7 years of the great tribulation and
all, “Fear
thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will
strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right
hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee
shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive
with thee shall perish.” Isaiah 41:10-11 So, the main thing is Israelites need to accept
Jesus as The Messiah, this is the last chance to get Raptured and if they don't
then, they will have to go through the 7 years of Great Tribulation because of
their unbelief on the Son of God Jesus Christ, The Promised Messiah. But God
will deliver them, and they will accept Jesus as their Messiah and then The
Millennial Kingdom will began, God judge the world and will throw the devil and
his followers into the lake of fire and then The New Heaven and The New Earth
will come down from above. (See Revelation chapter 7 to 22)
1 Peter 3:18-20,

the quick and the dead. 6 For for this cause was the gospel

flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.”
"I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I
am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death."
Revelation 1:18
"The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and
Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged,
each one according to his works." Revelation 20:13 and "Then Death and
Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
Revelation 20:14
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.."Romans 12:1-2
1 Peter 3
“Likewise, ye
wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word,
they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they
behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning
let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of
gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be
the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the
ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great
price.
5 For after this
manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned
themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands
6 Even as Sara
obeyed Abraham, calling him lord whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well,
and are not afraid with any amazement.
7 Likewise, ye
husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife,
as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life;
that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally, be ye
all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be
pitiful, be courteous
9 Not rendering
evil for evil, or railing for railing but contrariwise blessing; knowing that
ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he that
will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and
his lips that they speak no guile
11 Let him eschew
evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes
of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers
but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who is he
that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14 But and if ye
suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye and be not afraid of their terror,
neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify
the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man
that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear
16 Having a good
conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be
ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is
better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil
doing.
18 For Christ

being made subject unto him.”

4:1-8
“Forasmuch
then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with
the same mind for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men,
but to the will of God.
3 For
the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the
Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings,
banquetings, and abominable idolatries

Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of
riot, speaking evil of you
5 Who
shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For
for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they
might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the
spirit.
7 But
the end of all things is at hand be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And
above all things have fervent charity among yourselves for charity shall cover
the multitude of sins.”

“In
thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed deliver me in thy
righteousness.
2 Bow
down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily be thou my strong rock, for an house
of defence to save me.
3 For
thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and
guide me.
4 Pull
me out of the net that they have laid privily for me for thou art my strength.
5 Into
thine hand I commit my spirit thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.”

We all sinned n deserve GOD’s judgment, but our loving FATHER, GOD sent HIS only begotten SON to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in HIM. JESUS, our LORD who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that HE died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buries n rose from the dead according to the Holy Bible. If you truly believe n trust in your heart, receiving JESUS alone as your SAVIOUR, declaring (by Baptism) JESUS is The LORD n SAVIOUR, you will be SAVED from the judgment n spend ETERNITY with GOD in HEAVEN….
