Lent – Day 17 – Bible Study

God don't expect more from us. He just want we would depended on Him like a little child depended to his father. He want a relationship that last forever. We are His people. He want us to have focus only on Him. He want us to Holy like Him. In the 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called.. describes believers as "a Holy nation." And Holiness only results from a right relationship with God by believing in Jesus Christ as Saviour Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” If we have not placed our faith in God's Son alone to save us from our sins, then our pursuit of Holiness is in vain. We cannot own righteousness by keeping law and doing righteous deed. The Law was not given us to be righteous, but it's given us to point out your faults. If you broke the one commandment you will guilty for breaking all of them. It shows us that, expect God we can’t able to be righteous by our own. But God doesn't created us to punish, but to love. Have you ever heard that any father punished his own child for his disability and weaknesses, for not being able to perform well? No one do that! NOT even God. Than why does we always expecting God will punish for our sin! We are FORGIVAN! Romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."  and that’s why Christ Jesus Himself came into this fallen world, born in flash, took our sins and died for us on the cross. So we might took His place, His righteousness and became sons/ daughters of the Almighty GOD by placing your faith on Him. Galatians 2:21 "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain" Don't waste the sacrifice Jesus did on cross by constant reminding your sins and by self-criticism. Don't forget the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, LIVES IN YOU Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal.”. If you criticize yourself; you criticize the creation of our Loving God. He saved our soul 2000 years ago! He saved YOU even before you born.. He died for you, so you live for Him.
What you think, what have you ever done something that God didn't forgive! Hebrews 8:12 "FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR INIQUITIES, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SINS NO MORE." God knows everything, past, present future...God has already forgiven all your sins. Just Confess, just believe.. He knows you, He knows your work before you did, He know your thoughts before you think them. He knows you before you born, after all He design you and you are His best design, His masterpiece. So don't let your hearts be troubled, just believe. Oh... yes! before I forget to discuss about that.. there is a one sin that which will never be forgiven. The Holy Bible gives us a warning about that unforgivable sin in the Gospel of Mark 3:28-29 “But if you speak against the Holy Spirit, you can never be forgiven. That sin will be held against you forever.” “Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.” Let us see today’s reading and discuss about it..

John 2:13-25
And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man for he knew what was in man.

So often there is a struggle to reconcile a God who is all merciful, loving, and forgiving, yet completely just. Divine justice sounds like a negative attitude of God that detracts from the elements of love and mercy that are shown in the Gospel. There is often a disconnect due to our misconception of the nature of our God in Old Testament and New Testament. Ps 145:8 “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” (Read also Joel 2:13, Ephesians 2:4-10).  Here we see Jesus Christ, our merciful and loving and forgiving Lord react out of anger zeal as he cleanses the Temple of merchants and money changers. But why would our peaceful, merciful, loving Lord act in such a violent way?, Anger is emotional response, if we have feelings and care for someone/something we react. That's what Jesus did after seeing people's blindness. Jesus’ emotion was described as “zeal” for God’s house John 2:17 “And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.”. He controlled His emotions; His emotions did not control Him. Does it means that God is not as merciful and forgiving as we thought? Absolutely NOT! Ephesians 2:4-10 "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ," Jesus’ anger towards merchants and money changers is valid. Even though they were self-righteous hypocrites promoting a heretical doctrine, He cares for them. The one place set aside for proper worship of God was overrun with merchants that sold animals for sacrifices at an inflated price. Man was quickly moving away from the true worship of God in exchange for personal gain. Thus, Jesus intervened in an attempt to rid the temple of God of these worldly impurities and guide their understanding toward the true meaning of sacrifice that would be perfectly fulflled on Calvary. Just like the temple merchants, we too have acted at times in ways that are contrary to God’s commands. God seeks to meet us there while offering to purify us from our sins with his merciful embrace. Jesus’ anger is valid; He controlled His emotions; His emotions did not control Him but for us it’s hard to manage our actions in anger. The Holy Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:26 “in your anger do not sin” and not to let the sun go down on our anger. The command is not to avoid anger but to deal with it properly, in a timely manner.  Be slow to anger Read James 1:19-27 You know, how to react on the wrong things. Don't let your anger control you!

1 Corinthians 1:22-25
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Psalm 19:8-11
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned and in keeping of them there is great reward.

From very beginning God created the Heaven and the earth with perfect order of love and harmony. However, the original sin that Adam and eve did, by disobeying God, that sin brought disorder and instability into the world. Genesis 2:4 to Genesis 3:24
But God had to punish them (See also Genesis 2:4 to Genesis 3:24.) He love them but overlooking their sin would make the Holy God unjust. Death is the only option to punish all sin. “For the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23. Even good works cannot make up for wrongs against the Holy God. Compared to His goodness, “All our Righteousnesses are as filthy rags” Isaiah 64:6. Ever since Adam’s sin, every human has been guilty of disobeying God’s Righteous laws. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23. Because of sin, everyone has deserved death–eternal separation from God in hell. but God didn’t leave them without hope. He promised He would send a Saviour–Jesus Christ to defeat the serpent Genesis 3:15. Until then, men would sacrifice innocent lambs, showing their repentance from sin. God’s perfect Son fulfilled God’s perfect requirement of God’s perfect law. John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God Himself provided the only sacrifice Jesus who could atone for the sins of His people. It is perfectly brilliant in its simplicity“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. and Hebrews 10:38-39 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”.

Let us ask the Lord to show His mercy in our life today and for forever, that all we do will glorifies Him. Let us also pray for one another for perseverance through our Lenten journey, that the resurrected glory of God may penetrate the darkness of our hearts and guide us into greater communion with Him.

Exodus 20:1-17
And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

We all sinned n deserve GOD’s judgment, but our loving FATHER, GOD sent HIS only begotten SON to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in HIM. JESUS, our LORD who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that HE died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buries n rose from the dead according to the Holy Bible. If you truly believe n trust in your heart, receiving JESUS alone as your SAVIOUR, declaring (by Baptism) JESUS is The LORD n SAVIOUR, you will be SAVED from the judgment n spend ETERNITY with GOD in HEAVEN…. In The name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.. Amen
