Lent – Day 23 – Bible Study – Prayer – Part 2
Almighty God is
our Father, He loves us more than our earthly father Matthew 23:9 “And call no
man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” . The wisest, kindest earthly father is only a pale reflection of
our Heavenly Father. He wants to give us so much MORE than our earthly parents
ever could, if we would simply come to Him in CHILDLIKE FAITH and ask Him!
PRAYER. He is always ready and willing to hear you, talk to Him, and share your
thoughts.
Not every problem has an easy solution and sometimes it takes
courage to stay strong in faith. If you want to get your prayers answered then
stop listening to the world Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in
prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”. It's always when
you are trying to do well and work hard, and devil start to pointing your
weaknesses to keep you from your destiny. He want to keep you away from the
blessings God has store for you but God want you to trust on Him n dare to ask
the blessings, that healing, that world's thing you will never have. Don't
believe in his lies, don't let your sins keep you from praying, keep you from
your blessings! He is jealous on you because you are God's chosen, His child. If
devil try to constantly remind you your sins, remind him of his future.
Remember, our God is not an angry and judgmental God. Our God is
a God of mercy and compassion, and therefore it has given people a second
chance. In fact, it has given people many second chances. 1 Chronicles 16:34 “O
give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.” He judge the sin and not the sinner. Our God is just God. ISAIAH 53:5 “…and with
his stripes we are healed.”, 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin
for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”,
Romans 6:8 “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live
with him:”, Galatians 2:20 “am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet
not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith.” Jesus took your place and paid
the penalty justice demands for your sins, and He gave us the right to become
children of Living God. John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”, See also, 2 Corinthians 6:17-18, His grace is sufficient for us. Romans 8:16-18 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with
our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs;
heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him,
that we may be also glorified together.18 For I reckon that the sufferings of
this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be
revealed in us.”
God says you are valuable. God so love the world… John 3:16 -17 How much precious you in God eyes that He gave His only begotten
Son to die in our place — on our behalf — so that we could live, and not die! God
chooses us before we choose Him. Ephesians 1:4 “According as he hath chosen us in him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame
before him in love:”. God chose us in Him before the
foundations of the world. He chose us to be His children, His people. Romans 8:16 “The Spirit
Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,.”, John 1:12 “But
as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his name:” He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name, the name of Jesus Christ so
live like son and daughter of the King.. 1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father
hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the
world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” Now our true identity is Christ Jesus. And He
is righteous, He is Holy, He is worthy so we are.
There are many examples in Holy Bible of people who asked God
for something, and saw their prayers answered. Scripture clearly teaches that
prayers are answered. Jms 5:16 “e have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist
you.”. God heard their cry in Egypt Exodus 3:7-12 “And the
LORD said… have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know
their sorrows;” God is never blind to our tears,
never deaf to our prayers, never silent to our pain.. So tears are also a
silent prayer, when you can't find the words; I call it “Silent prayers” 2 Kings 20:5 “I have
heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third
day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.”.
Jesus teaches us how to pray is by parables in the Gospel of Luke 18:9-14 (we learned it in our previous blog). Praying like giving, giving is to be done to the Lord, not to
man. Jesus said that people love to pray standing in the synagogue. Both a time
and place for prayer were customary in the ancient Jews Synagogues Mark 11:25 “And when ye
stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also
which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”, therefore, Jesus is not
condemning the practice of public prayer, but rather the misuse of it. Because of the statement enter into
thy closet, some have suggested that all public prayer is wrong. This would be
different to the rest of New Testament statements about prayer, commandments and restrictions regarding
prayer, and examples of prayer meetings Acts 12:12 “…where many were gathered together
praying.”. The principle is that the believers should not make a show off
his prayer not of the answer he receives to the prayer in such a way as to call
unnecessary attention to himself.
One way we can learn to pray is by looking at the prayer life of
Jesus. Jesus want that we use not vain repetitions (battalogeo denotes babbling
or speaking without thinking) such prayer was characteristic of the heathen. A
good example of this is found in the ecstatic babbling of the false prophet in
the Old Testament and the prophets of baal who confronted Elijah on Mount
Carmel 1 Kings 18:26-29 “And
they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on
the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that
answered. And they leaped upon the altar
which was made.27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and
said, Cry aloud for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he
is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.28 And they
cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets,
till the blood gushed out upon them. 29 And it came to pass, when midday was
past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening
sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.”.
Prayers is not man’s attempt to change the will of God. Prayer
is not conquering God’s reluctance to answer, but laying hold of His
willingness to help. Prayer in the Life of the true believer is an act of total
CONFIDANCE and ASSURANCE IN THE PLAN AND PURPOSE OF GOD. The following sample
Prayer is given to the disciples as an example of suitable prayer. This
prayers, is often call “The LORD’s PRAYER” is in reality a disciple’s prayer. In
no way does the prayer itself represent all of Christ’s teaching about prayer; and
having just warned against vain repetition, He did not intend for this
particular prayer to be merely recited with empty meaninglessness. Matthew 6:7-8 “And when
thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be
seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when
thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to
thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall
reward thee openly.And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the
Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do
not be like.”, (See also 1 Thessalonians 5:16-28,

Matthew 6:7-15
But when ye pray, use not
vain repetitions, as the heathen do for they think that they shall be heard for
their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore
like unto them for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye
ask him.
9 After this manner
therefore pray ye Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men
their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you
15 But if ye forgive not
men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Psalm 34:4-19
I sought the LORD, and he
heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked unto him,
and were lightened and their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried,
and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD
encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
8 O taste and see that
the LORD is good blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 O fear the LORD, ye his
saints for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do
lack, and suffer hunger but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good
thing.
11 Come, ye children,
hearken unto me I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is he that
desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from
evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and
do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD
are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the LORD
is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the
earth.
17 The righteous cry, and
the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto
them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the
afflictions of the righteous but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Isaiah 55:10-11
For as the rain cometh
down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the
earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower,
and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be
that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it
shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto
I sent it.

We all sinned n deserve GOD’s judgment, but our loving FATHER, GOD sent HIS only begotten SON to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in HIM. JESUS, our LORD who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that HE died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buries n rose from the dead according to the Holy Bible. If you truly believe n trust in your heart, receiving JESUS alone as your SAVIOUR, declaring (by Baptism) JESUS is The LORD n SAVIOUR, you will be SAVED from the judgment n spend ETERNITY with GOD in HEAVEN….
