After the
triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), Jesus return to Bethgany Matthew 21:17 “And he
left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. Now in
the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when.”, Mark 11:11.
According to the
Gospels, Jesus was stayed at Btaheny and Bathphage before entering Jerusalem.
He was in Batheny six days before the Passover. On His way from Bathany to
Jerusalem, Jesus saw the tree, the fruitless fig tree symbolized Israel’s moral
barrenness. In Matthew 21:18-22 (Mark 11 :12-14, 20-26), The fig
tree fruit generally appears in February, followed by leaves, which are not
formed until late spring. So there should normally have been some fruit on the
tree. The cursing of the tree forewarned
of God’s coming judgment against Jerusalem and the temple (Jerusalem’s
destruction). The fig tree was often used as a symbol of the nation of Israel (Hosea 9:10, Joel 1:7) and when Jesus literally came upon barren fig tree, He used
the incident to fully illustrate Israel’s desperate condition. “May no one ever
eat fruit from you again..” result in the almost immediate withering of the
entire tree. While trees are nonmoral, they like all nature, are subject to the
word of Christ.
Monday of Holy
Week according to Matthew 21:12-13, Mark 11:15-17 and Luke 19:45-46, John 2:13-22, a day after Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and, seeing
shameful practices in the Holy Temple area, and He cleanses the Temple. Here we
see Jesus Christ, our merciful and loving and forgiving Lord react out of anger
zeal as He cleanses the Temple of merchants and money changers. But why would
our peaceful, merciful, loving Lord act in such a violent way?, Anger is
emotional response, if we have feelings and care for someone/something we
react. That's what Jesus did after seeing people's blindness. Jesus’ emotion
was described as “zeal” for God’s house John 2:17 “And his disciples
remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.”. He controlled His emotions; His emotions did not control Him.
Does it means that God is not as merciful and forgiving as we thought?
Absolutely NOT! Ephesians 2:4-10 "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love
wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ," Jesus’ anger towards
merchants and money changers is valid. Even though they were self-righteous
hypocrites promoting a heretical doctrine, He cares for them. The one place set
aside for proper worship of God was overrun with merchants that sold animals
for sacrifices at an inflated price. Man was quickly moving away from the true
worship of God in exchange for personal gain. Thus, Jesus intervened in an
attempt to rid the temple of God of these worldly impurities and guide their
understanding toward the true meaning of sacrifice that would be perfectly
fulflled on Calvary. Just like the temple merchants, we too have acted at times
in ways that are contrary to God’s commands. God seeks to meet us there while
offering to purify us from our sins with his merciful embrace. Jesus’ anger is
valid; He controlled His emotions; His emotions did not control Him but for us
it’s hard to manage our actions in anger. The Holy Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:26 “in your
anger do not sin” and not to let the sun go down on
our anger. The command is not to avoid anger but to deal with it properly, in a
timely manner. Be slow to anger Read James 1:19-27 You know, how to react on the wrong things. Don't let your anger
control you!
When Jesus
cleared the temple of the moneychangers and animal-sellers, He showed great
emotion and anger Matthew 21:12-13 “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and
cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables
of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,13 And said unto them,
It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made
it a den of thieves.” (Mark 11:15-18; John
2:13-22). Jesus’
emotion was described as zeal for God’s house John’s
Gospel also records that He rebuked the unbelief of the crowds. John 2:17 “And
his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath
eaten me up.”. In verse
2:19-20, Jews were amazed that Jesus claimed He could raise Temple in three
days. Jesus talking about His body John 20:21. His anger was pure and
completely justified because at its root was concern for God’s Holiness and
worship. Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem the last week of His
life. Mark 11:19 “And when even was come, he went out of the city.” records that He returned to Bethany that night. Pray with Jesus
as He is zealous to purify us.
John 2:13-22
And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
No one is
ever too lost to be saved by God's amazing grace. It doesn't matter how many
steps you took away from God, remember there's only one step backward to get
right with Him; only single step in the right direction. Sometimes we get so
hard on ourselves that we don't want to see we already has the solution of our
problem! We're living in the constant fear of our society; fear of being
criticized, fear from changes and fear of being hurt, and that's how we have
missed the point; the point of “God's Grace!” Trusting in God's unfailing Grace
and Favour is the exact opposite of living in fear that society doesn't has. Place
your Trust in Him, He created all the things visible and nonvisible and He
knows what's going on, Just BELIEVE “But
we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God
ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this
world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of
glory.9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that
love him” 1 Corinthians 2:7-9 We don't need
to be perfect because we have the Perfect God Almighty as our helper and our
Guide “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I
will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8. God the Father wants us to rely on Him for
everything, from our daily bread to our Eternal Salvation, He is our provider
God …“Our
fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, “He gave them bread from
heaven to eat.” John 6:31-44, “Being
justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” Romans
3: 24 , “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved.” Romans 10:9, Nothing is impossible for God, if we believe in
Him, He will do it for us “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With
men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Luke 1:37 Bible is full of the story about God's mercy toward
peoples disobedience and iniquity. We saw how forgiving was our Heavenly Father towards
those people in Bible time, than why do we think that the same God who full of
compassion and grace suddenly changed? He has the same compassionate Heart and He
loves us; HIS Children and His marvellous creations. But He is the just God, He punish the sins but not
sinners because Jesus already took our punishment on the cross and died for our
sins, but Jesus is the God, One of the member of the Holy Trinity so that He
rose again from death on the third day (That's why we celebrate The
Resurrection Day, Easter) “Jesus
Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8 So, don't be like
modern day Pharisees! Look at the
ordinary people in the Gospels, those Israelites and Gentiles (everyone except
Jews) knew nothing about The Messiah, (The Son of God and our Saviour) but they
followed Jesus Christ and accepted Him as their Saviour by the inspiration of
God and the Holy Spirit. WE read their stories in The Bible, they were real and
they were became God's living miracle... Be the living miracle! Have Faith on
God Almighty.
There are many PROPHECIES about “The Great
Tribulation” “Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” Psalm 121:2-4 , “The nation is like a mighty lion; When it is sleeping, no one dares wake it. Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, And whoever curses Israel will be cursed.” Numbers 24:9 (Read Micah 2:12) Isaiah 63:1-6 describe the area of “Petra” in
Jordan as the place where Jews flee when the antiChrist begins persecution, it
will be a horrible time for those who will left behind (This is why I urge you
to accept Jesus Christ as your God and Saviour, be Baptized in Him) “God
Just to For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to ALL men” Titus
2:11-12 whether you are Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhist,
atheists you can start your New Life from today by accepting Jesus Christ as
your God, Saviour and by being Baptized in His name you will have the Power of
Holy Spirit, who seals you until the day of Redemption (RAPTURE) “And
grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption.” Ephesians 4:30 and once you
received “The Seal of The Holy Spirit” then antiChrist, all evils and death has
no power over you “Therefore it is of faith,
that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the
seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the
faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,” Romans 4:16, (Read also Ephesians
2:8-11, Galatians 3:28, Romans 10:12, Acts 2:21-22,
1 Timothy 2:4-6 ) Alright, back
to the point! The Jews in the 7 years period of great tribulation -- (Read Micah 2:12) Isaiah 63:1-6 describe the area
of “Petra” in Jordan as the place where Jews flee when the antiChrist begins
persecution, It is where they remain safely protected by God during the period
of the Great Tribulation. That is why Israel will stand firm even after going
through 7 years of the great tribulation and all, “Fear
thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will
strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right
hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee
shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive
with thee shall perish.” Isaiah 41:10-11 So, the main thing is Israelites need to accept
Jesus as The Messiah, this is the last chance to get Raptured and if they don't
then, they will have to go through the 7 years of Great Tribulation because of
their unbelief on the Son of God Jesus Christ, The Promised Messiah. But God
will deliver them, and they will accept Jesus as their Messiah and then The
Millennial Kingdom will began, God judge the world and will throw the devil and
his followers into the lake of fire and then The New Heaven and The New Earth
will come down from above. (See Revelation chapter 7 to 22)
Ephesians 2:1-9
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses
and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course
of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that
now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times
past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the
mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love
wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding
riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
John 6:28-59
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we
might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of
God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou
then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is
written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the
true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from
heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this
bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he
that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never
thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and
believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and
him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will,
but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that
of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up
again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every
one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I
will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am
the bread which came down from heaven.
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph,
whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from
heaven?
43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur
not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath
sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all
taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the
Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which
is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on
me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that
a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if
any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will
give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying,
How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no
life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath
eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink
indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood,
dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the
Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as
your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall
live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in
Capernaum.
Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to
it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit
grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled,
saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say
unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is
done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.
Matthew
21:12-46
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out
all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the
moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be
called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple;
and he healed them.
15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the
wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and
saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,
16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And
Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and
sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
17 And he left them, and went out of the city into
Bethany; and he lodged there.
18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he
hungered.
19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it,
and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow
on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying,
How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto
you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done
to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed,
and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.
23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief
priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and
said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this
authority?
24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask
you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what
authority I do these things.
25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of
men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven;
he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for
all hold John as a prophet.
27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And
he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he
came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he
repented, and went.
30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered
and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They
say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the
publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness,
and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and
ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder,
which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in
it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far
country:
34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his
servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one,
and killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and
they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying,
They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among
themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his
inheritance.
39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard,
and slew him.
40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what
will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those
wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall
render him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the
scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head
of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be
taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be
broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his
parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared
the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
We all sinned n deserve GOD’s judgment, but our loving FATHER, GOD sent HIS only begotten SON to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in HIM. JESUS, our LORD who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that HE died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buries n rose from the dead according to the Holy Bible. If you truly believe n trust in your heart, receiving JESUS alone as your SAVIOUR, declaring (by Baptism) JESUS is The LORD n SAVIOUR, you will be SAVED from the judgment n spend ETERNITY with GOD in HEAVEN….
In The name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.. Amen
